3 Valentine's Gifts for Her (That Aren't Chocolate and Flowers)

Can you believe that Valentine's Day is just five days away? Whether you boycott the holiday, celebrate with a weekend-long getaway, or--like me--lay somewhere in between, there is no denying that Valentine's Day can be a fun, yet stressful, holiday.

This post is for all the men (ladies, feel free to forward on) who are having a hard time figuring out what to get their lady. Guys, we pretty much know what you want, so I am really going to leave that issue alone.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love chocolate and flowers as much as the next gal, but there is just something so cliché about getting them on Valentine's Day. Seriously, any other day of the year they are awesome, but if I am getting a gift, I want it to be a little more unique. And, no, unique does not mean expensive. We are a family on a budget and I plan on sticking to it.

Note: This is just one gal's opinion on what she would love for Valentine's Day. You know your Valentine better than anyone else. Make sure the gift reflects her.

1. A Monthly Subscription to Something She Loves

My first experience with a subscription service was with Ipsy. For just ten bucks a month I received a cute little bag in the mail filled with samplers of all my favorite makeups, hair products, etc. I did it for about a year and truly loved it, but decided to take a break because they were coming in faster than I could use them.

I just recently signed up for Dollar Shave Club and am excited to see how that turns out as well. However, I am now seeing these subscriptions services everywhere offering a huge array of different items to choose from.

They truly are the gift that keeps on giving!

Here are a few different options to choose from:

  • For the lady who loves to eat:
    • Snack Crate: Try out different snacks from around the world.
    • Hello Fresh: Get up to 50% off through this link here for a limited time only.
  • For the lady who loves makeup:
  • For the lady who loves to workout:

2. Amazon Echo Dot

I have to give credit where credit is due, Amazon's Alexa is pretty awesome. It is so nice to be able to call across the room and have her give you the answer to something you need, make a grocery list for you, or play your favorite tunes.

Now, Amazon has many different versions of the Alexa, but the Dot is by far the most affordable and the cutest IMHO. Consider gifting this to your Valentine--or surprise her by having it set up and playing her favorite romantic song when she walks in the room.

Hurry up and order now--with Prime you will have it before the 14th!

3. At-Home Spa Package

I know that--while enjoyable--spa packages are rather pricey. Honestly, I can hardly enjoy a massage if I know it cost more than $100 to get. Call me cheap, but it is just so hard to justify that kind of money being spent on just me.

That said, I certainly do love having a spa day at home. As long as my kid is looked after and I have some peace and quite, a warm tub, and a couple of candles, I can really enjoy myself. If you lady is the same way, consider buying her an at-home spa kit. It can be used multiple times and is much less expensive that going to a brick-and-mortar store.
