You Know What's Great About Little Kids?

You know what's great about little kids?

They know nothing of COVID or elections or division. They know only what we tell them and only what we show them.

You know what kind of stinks about little kids?

They know nothing of COVID or elections or division. They know only what we tell them and only what we show them.

As parents we lay the groundwork for every thought, feeling, and fear our little ones have in life.

When they see us worry, they worry.

When they see us hate, they hate.

It's why you'll never find me openly talking about a vegetable I don't particularly like at the dinner table. (Because I am not giving my kid one more reason to not eat his dinner)

If only we thought about the words that came out of our mouths before we said them. Would knowing little ears are nearby listening in with great intention be enough to zip our lips?

Because we lay the groundwork for every thought, feeling, and fear our little ones have in life.

And when they see us smile, they smile.

And when they see us love, they love, too.

Today, you're going to want to talk. Tomorrow, you're going to want to scream—perhaps for joy, perhaps for anger.

Just remember those little ears when you do. Because you lay the groundwork, my friends.

Make sure it's rock solid.
